etc/nf = one big white screen of nothing. Iwconfig has a listing for wlan0 and nothing for wmaster0, I tried both in the configuration for Wicd with no change. However I would like to make it the main (only) OS on my laptop since I don't feel like getting another copy of Windows 7, and I don't game on it, so it would be perfect for a workstation. It's been at that level for roughly 3 years. My level of linux knowledge doesn't go very far past amused tinkering I'm afraid. Well, I decided to try Wicd because it worked for my desktop, lol. WICD just says no wireless networks found. Running lshw-C network shows a Wireless interface, labeled as the Wireless WiFi Link 5300 by intel. I've moved iwlwifi-5000-2.ucode into the lib64/firmware folder.
If I run iwconfig it shows a wireless extension at wlan0. I've got a Thinkpad X200 Tablet with the intel 5300 AGN wireless card. So, wireless is kind of my number 1 issue right now. I stuck with the Windows 7 RC for awhile, but apparently its time will be up shortly. I have thus far had no success with any distribution of linux.
